The term “Accounting Technician” is of recent origin. This term “Accounting Technician” was first used by Professor David Solomans of US; in 1974 to identify middle level Support Accounting Staff. Since that time, a number of Countries have established organisations for the education, training and professional development of accounting support staff who are now popularly designated as “Accounting Technicians”. The AATSL is an organisation, which conducts three examinations for youth with or without G.C.E. (O.L.) or G.C.E. (A.L.) qualifications, or for adults with or without educational qualifications, and with or without any employment. AATSL Conducts
for Registered Students of the AATSL.
AAT = Association of Accounting Technicians AATSL is a Fast track to become a Qualified Accountant With or Without G.C.E. (O.L.) Any student or person who wishes to sit for AATSL Examinations should register with the AATSL Institute. They may make use of several Exemptions made available to them. The three examinations are based on a standard syllabus prepared by the AATSL. The Institute updates the syllabus when necessary in keeping with the modern trends and developments in the national and international arena of Accountancy. The students are given adequate notice of Syllabus revision. The courses for the AATSL Examinations are based on the syllabuses prepared by the AATSL. The AATSL Exams are Subject wise Pass and Level wise Pass Examinations. That is students can pass the examinations subject by subject (except Final Level – 1 st attempt), and Level by Level, and qualify. Students who have not passed in all the Subjects of a Level, need to sit only the failed Subjects. The Passed Finalists (after passing Final Level)and on completion of two years of Practical Training experience, are eligible to obtain the Membership of the Association – MAAT, a well recognized Professional Qualification. The designation MAAT can be used after their names as a qualification. The Passed Finalists and Members are entitled to receive numerous benefits and exemptions. They can obtain employment, or qualify as Financial Accountants (ICASL), Management Accountants (CIMA), or sit for various Professional Examinations, or gain admission to local and foreign Universities. There are registered Educational Centres spread throughout the Country which conduct Classes for the AATSL examinations. There are registered Information Centres spread in the districts to provide necessary Information to students, parents and any others about the AATSL.
