All the students who wish to complete subjects or stages of AAT Examinations by exemption upon required qualifications should apply for such exemptions along with the registration or immediately after the registration.
Anyhow the students who are pending the required qualifications to apply for the exemptions at the time of registration should apply for the same subsequently subject to following closing dates.
Closing dates for Exemptions
As no subsequent complete result sheet will be offered incorporating the subsequent exemptions granted after the closing dates, you are strictly advised to adhere to the above dates.
Exemption once granted will not be cancelled under any circumstances. If students hope to follow CIMA (UK) & CIM (UK) after completing AAT and wish to get CIMA or CIM Exemption, they are advised not to apply for AAT exemptions as the said institutions do not offer their exemptions if the students had obtained any exemption from AAT Examinations. Your choice to complete a subject of AAT must be either by Examination or by Exemption only.
Exemption Fee Structure
For detailed Exemption fees please see the relevant section in the Students' Guide and also the Examination Application Form. Students who have completed the former CAA Exam will be transferred to Intermediate Level without any extra Exemption Fee.
EXEMPTION REQUIREMENTS
Important: A certificate of exemption should be obtained before applying for examinations. Exemption Application and pay - in - slips are part of the AAT Students’ Guide.
If the Exemption Certificate is lost/misplaced, a duplicate certificate could be obtained by making a payment of Rs. 100/-.
For this a written request should be made by the student.
Exemptions under New Syllabus (Effective from June 2010 Examination)
1) Foundation - Subject Exemptions
Registered Students who have passed the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination (SRI LANKA / (UK) in the following subjects are eligible to be exempted from Foundation examination subjects as indicated below
2) Complete Exemption from Foundation Examination
3) The scheme of exemptions for those who have a pass at level “C” or above in individual subjects at one and the same examination but failed the ICASL Certificate in Accounting and Business II (CAB II) Examination is as follows :-
4) Complete Exemption from Foundation and Intermediate Examinations
Those who possess one of the following qualifications are eligible for exemption from the above mentioned two examinations provided they have passed in subjects which, in the opinion of the Governing Council, can be considered as equivalent to each of the subjects of Foundation and Intermediate examinations.
i. A Degree of a Recognised University with passes in ;
(a) Business Mathematics (b) Statistics and (c) Information Management of Application in Business
ii. National Certificate for Accounting Technicians (NCAT) conducted at Government Technical Colleges.
iii. Intermediate examination of ICMASL
iv. Passed Finalist of HNDA / HNDC / HNDM- Government Technical Colleges / Advanced Technical Institutes
5) Exemptions for other University Degrees
They are entitled to the following exemptions
(i) Foundation
(01) Basic Accounting
(02) Economics
(03) Business Studies
(ii) Intermediate
(01) Business Communication I
(02) Business Law & Management
They will have to sit and pass only the following question papers of the examinations indicated.
Foundation - Business Mathematics and Statistics
Intermediate - Information Management & Application in Business / Accounting and Control Systems
Final - All Subjects
