AAT Sri Lanka, the pioneer in producing middle-level accounting professionals in the country, successfully conducted the Passed Finalists’ Diploma Awarding Ceremony for students who successfully completed the Final Level of the January 2026 AAT Examinations at the Main Conference and Concert Hall of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
A total of 2,179 Passed Finalists, representing all districts of the island, were invited to receive their Diploma in Accounting and Business together with a guest to witness and celebrate this significant milestone in their academic journey. Owing to the large number of Passed Finalists, the ceremony was conducted across three sessions, welcoming a total audience of approximately 4,000 participants throughout the day, making it one of the largest Passed Finalists’ Diploma Awarding Ceremonies organized by AAT Sri Lanka.
The morning session was graced by Mr. Jayathilake Bandara, General Manager / Chief Executive Officer of Fintrex Finance, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Tishan Subhasinghe, President of CA Sri Lanka, joined as the Guest of Honour. The afternoon session featured Ms. Roshini Silva, Chief Executive Officer of Colombo Re Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Ltd, as the Chief Guest, together with, Mr. Saman Siri Lal Council Member of CA Sri Lanka, as the Guest of Honour. The evening session was graced by Mr. Lalith Fernando, Group Finance Director of Capital Maharaja Group, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Thivanka Jayasinghe, Council Member of CA Sri Lanka, attended as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Chamara Bandara, President of AAT Sri Lanka, together with the Vice President, Secretary, Members of the Governing Council and the Chief Executive Officer of AAT Sri Lanka.
In addition to celebrating the academic achievements of the Passed Finalists, the ceremony also focused on preparing them for the next stage of their professional journey. Participants received valuable guidance on fulfilling the practical training requirements for AAT membership, enhancing their employability, obtaining the prestigious MAAT professional membership, pursuing further academic opportunities through the AAT Business School, and developing themselves as competent and ethical accounting professionals. These informative sessions were well received by the audience and reflected AAT Sri Lanka's continued commitment to supporting students beyond examinations.
Having successfully completed the Final Level of the AAT qualification and obtained the NVQ Level 5 equivalent Diploma in Accounting and Business, the Passed Finalists are now equipped to pursue a wide range of academic and professional opportunities while entering the workforce as competent accounting and finance professionals. Upon completion of the prescribed practical training and the People and Leadership Skills Workshop, they become eligible to obtain the prestigious Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) designation, marking the next milestone in their professional journey with AAT Sri Lanka.
